Devious or Deviant?

There’s a really thick disparity between being deviant and being devious.

Being deviant is being extremely radical. Jenny chose to dress like the Corpse’s Bride in a Disney-themed party. In simpler terms, rebellious.

On the other hand, being devious is being strategic. Mike earned the promotion when he unexpectedly outwitted his colleague in a crucial event.

Both can be used in a negative sense but it will always depend on the context of the matter. Point is, there’s no way they’re related. And they’re not opposites, needless to say.
